Job Purpose:
As a member of the R&D group, this position will be involved in IT system development from concept to production and will be primarily responsible for coordinating the work of Front Office and Back Office in a variety of disciplines to produce products that meet requirements. Time will be spent first understanding and distilling requirements to form a system specification. The incumbent will then play a role in product development and make sure the smooth transition from R&D to the production environment.
The incumbent will be routinely called upon to use their excellent IT skills and creativity to find ways to move forward when faced with inevitable development hurdles. Other duties will include helping to define direction for future product offerings based on your solid knowledge of the strengths and limitations of a wide variety of technologies. This individual is accountable for the following systems: Linux servers; Winows Active Directory server; Routers, bandwidth shaper, and UTM systems; Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering and & provisioning, operations and support, maintenance and research and development to ensure continual innovation.

- Work closely with R&D Manager to ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
